An extra 7 Daily Detox Rituals!

I’m loving this Spring weather we’re currently having in the UK! Amazing sunshine and warmth for this time of the year – and let’s face it, we get our fair share of rain on these isles, so some sun is long overdue!

With the warmer weather, we all start thinking more about our bodies and skin more so  – it’s only natural – we start to wear less clothing, less make-up and get outdoors more than in the colder darker months. So, with the advent of spring, most of us start to panic about impending holidays, wedding season, and just feeling our best for the glorious light months ahead.

Detoxing is something we can all implement into our daily lives with little or no effort. I’ve mentioned in a previous post how we can start off simply, with no need for these specialist teas/pills, and this article is a simple extension on that. So, here are 7 more easy ways to detox every day:

1. Smoothies

After your lemon water, start the day with a cleansing smoothie packed with chia seeds, berries, hemp protein, spirulina, chloerella, bio yoghurt and more! Pack in the fibre to get your gut working, your energy levels topped up and your body rejuvenated and ready to tackle the day.

2. Juices

Sip green juices throughout the day. Juicing kale, celery, cucumber, leafy greens, ginger and carrots, gives a juice storming with vitamin goodness and is a great snack alternative to your usual apple.

3. Herbal teas

tea

Whether you enjoy lemon & ginger, peppermint, nettle, camomile or jasmine, herbal teas are refreshing and help to flush the system. Pick your herbal blend depending on what you need at that moment – so peppermint for digestion, ginger for cleansing, camomile for calming etc

4. Turmeric

Have a curry! Or sprinkle turmeric onto your salad at lunchtime. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory. It also contributes to the body’s production of glutathione, which is a strong liver-protective antioxidant.

5. Avocados

These are also a rich source of glutathione, and so yummy to eat!

6. Exercise and sweat!

crossfit

I’ve mentioned saunas to release toxins, but get some cardio and strength building exercises in to really gets the heart going. Not only will it pump the blood, but exercise pushes the lymph around your body and expels toxins. Plus it gets your endorphins working so you’ll feel great afterwards

7. Soak it out

Epson salts and essential oils such as grapefruit, fennel and lavender are all perfect additions to a bath or foot spa, to help draw out the impurities in your system.
